Xiaochen Sun is a documentary photographer based in Chengdu, China.

His work explores the lives of people and communities undergoing social and cultural change in contemporary China. Alongside his personal documentary projects, he works on editorial assignments and commissions across China.

His photographs have been published by China National Geography, Sanlian Life Week, Caixin, Window of the South, and other media outlets.

He was nominated for the World Press Photo Joop Swart Masterclass in 2020, and his photobook BOSTAN was selected for the 23rd Pingyao International Photography Festival in 2023. In 2025, he was shortlisted for the “Journalists’ Home” Award for Reporting on Major Social Events.
